More bad habits:
My wife comes from Shanghai, she never spit on the ground before because she was a city folk. She blow her nose on a tissue, and hold it walking a long distance to look for a bin. But after she was pregnant, she spit every three to five steps along the way. She walks to and from work everyday, and spit loudly passing by commercial block, where there are a lot of shops and people doing shopping. One day, she said to me that, it's quite embarrassing that she could feel those shop staffs and customers might already know her spitting a lot!
"But I can't control it." she said. Although there's only a little bit saliva accumulated in her mouth, or as she said it's a mixture of nasal mucus, saliva and phlegm come out from the throat, she just can't help getting ride of that little bit saliva by sptting it out!
She use a plastic bag as her spittoon, or on the tisue at home, because no way to spit on the carpet. She went to the doctor, the doctor diagnosed her, but he was too cautious to give her any priscription, just recommend her drinking a lot of water.
I have learned that during pregnancy some women suffer Hyperemesis Gravidarium, which is uncontrollable nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Due to the severe nausea these women has excessive salivation and an inability to swallow this saliva as it can cause gagging and an increased chance of vomiting.This is far more than just morning sickness. That seems true, my wife has nausea and throws out a lot even during the day and night, not just in the morning when she brushing her teeth.
I have suggested my wife to buy a spitton and carry the spittoon round with her, or buy many spitoons and strategically place around the house or office. But she resorted to tying a plastic bag at the end of bed and beside our dinning table and in her office desk, so she can spit anywhere without rushing off to the toilet, kitchen washing basin and bathroom.
She has to attend meeting, and two hours lecture. I am quite amazed that how she can control her spitting so long? She said that she had to hold it inside her mouth. But according some phisician, spitalism is a hysterical' response to pregnancy and is all in the mind.
Only in mind!
