Card Game Set Found in Garden Shed
We found the Care Bear Memory & Match Card Game set in a Garden shed in our rented flat, among a large bag of Mcdonald Happy Meal toys (which are made in China).
All the heart stickers are already applied to both sides of each of the chips. Brenda likes this cards, just because of the colourful and chuby care bears and chips, but we didn't know what's this for, and I thought the publisher was a bit stupid to invent this kind of useless card game. But after several weeks, my wife read the instructions (She alway reads the instruction first, even when tried to use the hairdresser tools to cut my hair, this is a story I will tell you later on in another article) printed inside the cover, then played with Brenda in Christmas eve!
We only have three people in our house, and one us alway prefers to play computer instead of enjoy this silly Card Game together. So normally only two players, and Brenda always of them.
At first, Brenda open as many cards until she found a match, but gradually she knows she can ONLY flip two cards. She likes GRUMPY BEAR, she will be overjoyed whenever she matches Grumpy Bear, because she can MIX UP ALL THE CARDS, but I hate that, because that means I have to spend longer time to play with her.
We never figure out how to PASS ONE CHIP TO THE PLAYER TO THE LEFT when we matches a SHARE BEAR, my wife insists that each one has to pass one card over, from the first to last and THIS SAME CARD COME BACK WHERE IT IS FROM! Say, I matches a pair of Share Bear Cards, If I have chips already, I have to pass one card to Brend who sits on my left, the Brenda passes one card to her Mum, and Her Mum passes one card back to me! If Brenda has no card before sharing, she still has not card after! That's silly.
The only reasonable answer is each player pass one card to the left AT THE SAME TIME, if the player has no card, he/she can't pass but can receive.
Before Play
- Apply the heart stickers to both sides of each of the chips.
- Mix up the cards, then place them face down in five rows of eight cards each.
- Place the chips in a separate pile near the players.
- The shortest player starts the game.
How to play
Ages 3 & UP, 2-4 players game.
Each player, in turn, flips any two cards face up.
If the card match:
- If the Care Bears on the cards are the same, you've made a match! Congratulations!
- Now count the number of hearts on your matching cards ( each card is different, some have no hearts, while others can have two hearts).
- Take a heart chip for each heart on the matching cards. As you collect each chip, you must name someone you love ( Mom, dad, sister, aunt, uncle, etc.).
- If you match the GOOD LUCK BEAR cards, you're in for a special treat. You may take an EXTRA TURN.
- If you match the SHARE BEAR cards, it's time to spread a little love. All players must PASS ONE CHIP TO THE PLAYER TO THE LEFT. If a player does not have a chip to pass he cannot pass one, but he can still receive one.
- If you mach the GRUMPY BEAR cards, you get to MIX UP ALL THE CARDS, changing all their positions. Now you'll need to try extra hard to remember which bear is where!
- Remove the matching cards from the table. Your turn now ends and now the player to the left tries to make a match.
If the cards don't match:
- The player does NOT collect any heart chips.
- Turn the cards back over in their place and your turn ends. The player to the left now tries to make a match.
- As play progresses you should try and remember a card's position. It may help you make a match later on in the game.
How to win:
- The game ends when all matches are make and all of the cards are gone.
- The player with the most heart chips at end of play, wins the game.
Play by Color
- For a change, play by matching the background colors on the cards.
